I awoke
\n<\/span>spooked as peals of thunder
\n<\/span>bowled over the clouds, my dreams
\n<\/span>galloping out of my head with the nightmares,
\n<\/span>nostrils flared, a kinetic train-wreck of muscles under wet brown skin
\n<\/span>and their tails raised high like flags, snapping
\n<\/span>in the dusty wind they kicked up
\n<\/span>in the now-empty
\n<\/span>corrals of my skull.<\/span><\/p>\n
