He wakes in the night,
\nthe bed half-cold,
\nand moves to shift
\nthe bare facts,
\ncoughs to unmake
\nthe space in the room,
\nstretches to fill
\nthe house,
\nstill sharp, still broken
\nwhen outside, the sun
\nlifts into the branches.<\/p>\n
