Hard Journey<\/span><\/h2>\n

How much I both wanted the future and wanted
\n<\/span>to be rescued from having to get there by myself,
\n<\/span>stuffing down whatever was at hand, packages of
\n<\/span>meat or ice cream, then vomiting them back up,
\n<\/span>seeking to empty myself of the bolus of dread
\n<\/span>in my gut, the leaden years between the young me,
\n<\/span>anxious and alone, and the unimaginable me,
\n<\/span>transformed somehow like the hero after a quest,
\n<\/span>dusty, scarred, but upright, deserving of her prize.<\/span><\/p>\n
