Solo Shot<\/span><\/h2>\n

One winter in Korea
\na violin went awry,
\nsound waves thin as
\ntracers or wires
\nsnipped, cut loose
\nfrom redwood stain,
\ndanced over snowfields,
\nup the mountain hold,
\nshattered wet air
\nwith heart\u2019s recovery,
\ntore stiletto quick
\nin snow\u2019s embalmment,
\nfeather down\u2019s triple
\nblanketing and brawn
\nas some player played defilade,
\nurged deft hands and arms
\ninto the spelling, matched
\nawed sounds in his head
\nto passage of fingertips,
\nas another finger squeezed
\na trigger\u2019s tantrum and
\nBilly Pigg died in my arms
\njust as one high note
\nfroze on frigid air
\nvisible forever, his
\nlast eyes on my face.
\nsong-less, hearing but
\na single note.<\/p>\n
