Spirit Work<\/span><\/h2>\n
She floats like a ghost from room
\nto room, so much so that you may
\nnot know she\u2019s there, but the cup has
\nbeen moved, the laundry put away, the
\nstack of books reordered, the fan left on,
\nthe windows opened, the picture hung,
\nthe argument quelled, the crisis averted,
\nand the spirit work she has done you may
\nnever know and yet she is the reason you
\nstand tall.<\/div>\n

A<\/strong><\/span>ndrew McIver<\/strong><\/span> is a poet and photographer from South Carolina. His second collection of poems,<\/em> What the River Was, is due out this winter.<\/em><\/p>\n
