Biophilia

The A.I. of the future will never feel
the joy of walking a dirt road barefoot in the dark night
in that long awaited moment, in the soul of July,
when our soles have at last leathered themselves just right
to allow worry free walking in the warmth of the evening
passively parting the summer sea of cricket rhythms
drifting along up between the pines with wide-eyed wonder
full to the brim with the open road of the Milky Way.

David Anthony Martin is the author of two collections of poetry (Span and Deepening The Map), lives in southern Colorado, forages for wild mushrooms in season, collects feathers when found and writes daily.
