Ode to the Blue Room

Waiting to enter
the Blue Room to see
Jack White and his band
blast through tracks
from his new album,
pounding drums
staccato keys, and
thrashing guitar,
set to collide in
a special performance for
a couple hundred Nashvillians,
myself included,
I stand in a cell phone free zone
reading the pocket
Thich Nhat Hanh,
the teacher
writing about
the wounded child inside
always trying to get out,
men and women around me
dance, smoke, sway and
I wonder
how
this
all
fits
together.
