Nonbeliever

Once I dreamt the heavens cleaved
apart & bodies (like larks or leaves) stumbled
skyward into blinding ruins.

 

Now I Find Myself

at this roadside diner, dining on a seafood
salad sandwich & drinking tumbleweed
coffee on a Thursday morning before sunrise.
