Claudia Serea
April
On a cloudy day,
the angel goes to the toolshed
where, neatly stacked, he keeps on shelves
surgical instruments,
wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers,
oil cans, gauze, rope,
glass bottles with acid,
crystals, formol, fragrances,
and jars with nails
and soaps,
picks the steel canister labeled “Life,”
and sprays the dirt in the front yard
green.
Claudia Serea’s poems have appeared in Field, New Letters, Prairie Schooner, and elsewhere. She has published five poetry collections, most recently Twoxism, a collaboration with photographer Maria Haro (8th House Publishing, 2018).
