This is the 8ᵗʰ anniversary of One Sentence Poems. Our first poem was by Eric Burke. We asked Eric to toss us a poem to publish on our anniversary, as we’ve done before on the journal’s anniversary. Thanks, Eric. And, thanks to everyone who submitted their work during these 8 years. Thanks to our readers, my co-editors Elizabeth McMunn-Tetangco, Tony Press, and Natalie Wolf. And thanks to Robert Scotellaro, editor emeritus.

An Abandoned Field

As the older boys compete
to jump

this and that,

I lean
on one training wheel

and wait.
