A Stray Storm
A stray thunderstorm,
without collar
or ID,
snuck into our
neighborhood,
rolled around on
the lawns,
begged for a
quick belly rub
and a scratch
behind its
dark grey ears,
before letting
loose a howl
that darkened
the moon and
soaked our homes,
shaking its considerable coat.
